Understanding your portfolio reduces impulsiveness, and helps support informed decision making that aligns with your overall strategy.
Our clients come to us with different levels of investment experience. Some come with no experience investing at all, while others have a well-established investment portfolio – sometimes this includes a business or businesses, or shares in their employer’s company as part of their remuneration package. Often there’s property. It’s also common to see an accumulated handful of shares in the banks and other household-name Australian companies.
We won’t tell you to sell everything and to put all the proceeds into a portfolio of shares or managed funds that we recommend to everyone.
We look at what you have, assess whether it makes sense for your needs and objectives, and make recommendations on how you can optimise your portfolio. Amongst other things, we consider the appropriateness of the asset type, ownership, the account where relevant, the specific holdings, and whether they belong in your ongoing strategy given your goals, objectives, investment preferences, and your investment risk tolerance.
We’re big believers in only taking risks that are worth taking. An important part of our analysis is consideration of your need to take risk, and whether this aligns with your willingness to be exposed to market risk.
We find that understanding your portfolio reduces impulsiveness, and helps support informed decision making that aligns with your overall strategy.
